Just received Competitor.com’s email newsletter “The RunDown,” linking to this topic on many minds:  Footstrike 101: How Should Your Foot Hit The Ground?

The article speaks for itself and I hope you’ll read it if you haven’t already.

Some preliminary observations of my own subjective experience on this topic:

1. Based on the article’s takeaways, maybe terminology should change from “Footstrike” to “Foot Roll” or “Foot Fall” with the sense of the contact staying under the main body mass.

2. I’ve found myself paying attention to what my feet do in different running situations. I want to see what my body does to adapt while running on different terrains, inclines, declines, surfaces and at different speeds etc.. I also want to know what I have made into habit, whether good or bad. Are such habits lacking in one type of running versus another? This might help figure out how to break a bad habit by recruiting insights from another situation.

3. Variety is the spice of life, and there are a variety of running purposes that the body’s design equips us for carrying out. What do those purposes require of our bodies, and, are we all hitting all of the purposes for running with our running? Are we diversifying?

I’m grateful for our interconnecting training communities at WordPress. Please accept my thanks for all of your inspiring journals. I find them enriching. May you and yours have a wonderful thanksgiving overflowing with the blessings that matter the most.

As I work on the M7 Adaptive Fitness Guidebook I work at maintaining a conditioning base. This subdued phase with a lower training tempo is different. Distances are less, however, I’ve actually made pacing gains in runs I thought would be for maintenance only. It is a phase I accept as part of my collective goals. I like what I’m doing. I am grateful.

That’s why I’m re-posting and linking to information to become familiar with the Jessica Ridgeway case, and other recent attempted or active abduction facts so that more eyes and ears can expand the lookout beyond the limits of current searches.Below are descriptive facts on more than one case in the region.

Also, here are links to relatively recent incidents of attempted or active child abductions together with descriptions of vehicles or persons where available. Any of the facts noted may lead to discoveries that could protect children and help law enforcement. One happened Monday in Cody, Wyoming and the FBI is studying that one for similarities.

Cody, Wyoming abduction: Arrested.

Arvada, Colorado attempts: royal blue sedan; link to story for composite sketch.

Iowa abuction: similar age, gender to Jessica. Active case over 2 months since disappearances.

Sheridan, Colorado attempted abduction of 2 year old in June. White van and see story for sketch of suspect.

You may find other attempted or active abduction stories by your own research. Be advised, children aren’t the only ones, in 2010 at Ketner Lake in Westminster, Colorado, a man reportedly tried to abduct an adult female runner using a chemical on a cloth.
